Greetings from South Africa!

If you noticed an extreme dearth of blog posts from me over the past few months, it’s because the hubby and I have been busy relocating to Cape Town, South Africa! After 7 weeks on the road traveling around the U.S. and saying our goodbyes to friends and family, we have finally arrived in our new apartment in our new city in our new country. And I couldn’t be happier.

Table Mountain

For the first time in my adult life, we did not just move with backpacks. We packed up the things we love—our books, trinkets, even our pots and pans—and shipped them over to ourselves. We are not living in a 150 sq. ft box like in Korea. We have a lovely apartment in a lovely neighborhood and we even have a guest room! We are surrounded by vineyards and mountains and TWO oceans and I cannot wait to begin exploring everything that Cape Town has to offer!

I am hoping to get back into semi-weekly posts as we make our way up Table Mountain, head to the Stellenbosch wine region, check out local wineries here in Constantia, and then head out further into South Africa along the Garden Route, to Kruger National Park, and all the other incredible sights to see in South Africa. While Hudson’s contract is for two years, I doubt that will even be enough time to squeeze everything in!

So far we have walked through the colorful houses of Bo-Kaap, perused the African wares for sale in Greenmarket Square, absorbed the sordid history of colonialism at the Castle of Good Hope, enjoyed a sunny afternoon at the V&A waterfront, and eaten the best Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. And that was just the first weekend!

Stay tuned for more as the next chapter of the Great Blairstrom Adventure unfolds!
